Last Fridayeve I got inspiration and felt the urge (finally) to felt myself an Ant. So Saturday I sat in my studio and started with making this:
A pen next to it, so you can get a clue about its real seize.
I never made anythign like this before. Massiv 3D wetfelt, It turned out nice and quicker as thought (or was I so focussed I didn't notice time passing by???? )
The Ant is a symbol for a hard worker, soicial in a group, together and patience. It is also a very stong insect as it can carry up to 50 times its own weight.
I also wanted to felt a goldfish so also that one I made...
maybee a little bigger as I should have made, but I love it anyway...
I descided some embroidery would make it even better.
Hello!! how are you??? Blub blub
The gold fish brings good luck in the form of tranquility, wisdom and long life. It is one among the eight sacred symbols of the Buddha where they represent fertility, abundance and harmony with the flow of life.
I think I wil turn my studio into a felted animals zoo
Last week just before I went on a 4 days workweek with students, I walked into a new opened shop in the heart of the city Maastricht: Puur Maastricht on the markt 19.
Their concept is as follow: you can rent 12 m2 for 25 euro a day. When I walked in I wanted to ask if it was possible for me to sell my felts there for a few days in November and December. She, Anja, said sure, but why don;t you try it fisrt? she had a new concept and my sister whom was with me said: "Just go for it! Give it a try! " I got a lot of energy by taking this descision. My sister said , congrats with your second shop :) (actually my 4th if you count together my online shop like Etsy and Dawanda plus the other shop in Maastricht: Crafts & co )
So I picked up some of my feltings and took it to Puur. Dropped it there and left to prepare for the flowerparade workweek.
On the left side is the shop building (not seen on this picture) and this street is called Boschstraat. I love seeing the blossom fall off the trees, leaving behind some kind of shade.
After these days with the students, I went back there today. It looked good, I hadn't sold anything jet, but reactions were good.
Little more of my felts is there .... but go and see for yourself

Today I gave a feltingworkshop for a good freind and her freinds. She dreamed of making her own slipper and finally we were able to find a suitable day. Her friends made a bag. We started inside, drawing a resits and cutting them out, layering wool, little felting already before lunchtime. The weather was super and we had lunch outside.
We descided to work outside as well. :
after felting and felting the slippers and the bags were finished.
one bag needed a zipper , the other bag an innerbag and decoration (most probably buttons wil be added...) and the slippers were done , but could do with some leather for extra protection. They were all very happy with their results.
If you want to follow a workshop from me too, just contact me and we can set a date.
