I must say I found it quite hard to get this stitch `under my skin`but once I was going I hardly couldn’t stop. It was that I was way too occupied with other things for my family and school job (like correcting papertests ) plus my household (which still could do with more attention) and getting in a carnival mood

So I descided to stick to this green-orange-yellow bracelet:

I feel I am being lived, but I am not complaining. Wednesday we (all students and colleagues of the study: Bloem&Design” ) went to an International Plant Trademark Fair in Essen ( Germany) Saw many amazing things. Managed to get this plant for our school collection so the students can learn its name more easily. My students liked it very much and want to see if we can make more plants from it:

Yesterday I went to Utrecht for a protest against the plans our minister of education has for the schools and teachers. Let’s hope it worked out like we were hoping. 22.000 teachers were there. At my journey back home I stopped in “s Hertogenbosch to visit the exhibition of the Dutch “Viltkontaktgroep” a felters group which exists for 20 years now and is growing. I took many many pictures, but don;t want to share them all here , you should go and see it for yourself ;-) here an impression:

I first started on a little piece of embroidery raster from my daughter and after I knew what to do I gave it a try on a new made bracelet.

Yes. So I run to check if we already got the paper from our neighbours and  there it was:

I participated in an pop-up shop exhibition last May and met Sander Claessen, a student from the Design academy. He showed a beautiful lamp there well we kept contact as he came over to my place to learn to felt . Lastesday he asked me weather I was interested in giving workshops at the FAb LAb In Maastricht?

No need to think about that for long :) So Frits Hoff and I got a meeting on Thursday morning and as there was an opening of a” Knitting cafe” that same day in the evening  I drove back with some felt to show there. Unfortunately I wasn’t bale to be at the opening evening, as I got a workshop that evening. But Frits mentioned my name to the reporter.  Thank you Frits! more pictures can be found here

I feel things fall into its place more and more :)

This is a challenge where I wil learn an embroidery stitches every week of 2012.So the second stitch was called the Button hole stitch and announced on  this blog: Pin Tangle  

I Dutch I know this stitch as ` feston steek` and I already taught my daughter this stitch a year ago when she made this edge of her slippers,

Unfortunately one shoe is missing….. :(

She made a new piece of felt and asked me “Mummy I want to make a nice edge…, what do you think is nice to do? “  I said the new stitch of the TAST.. ” OH I cannot do so Mummy, must be too difficult…” Then I showed her the post and she said: Hej, I know that stitch!! I can do that too !! ” So she started working on the edge of her piece of felt immediately :) This is her : borduren, feston steek

The difficulty about stitching on felt is you don;t have any raster or weaving lines…. so making all stitches nice and even is not so simple…

Here is a detail of an edge she made.  (I still need to hide the ends )

Fetson Steek, Button hole stitch

My own contributions to this weeks stitch was again a felted bracelet.. I really like making them and doing some embroidery on them So I decided to go for a bracelet every week… I hope to have  nice collection at the end of this year.. imagine 52 bracelets with a  different stitch per bracelet…… I already saw them displayed in my dreams :)

The inner circle isn’t stitches with the button hole stitch, but I just loved to use this stitch, I know as “whitches” stitch

What I love about embroidering onto felt is that I can hide all ends in the felt… as you can see on the picture not one stitch came through..

Some embroidery around the thumbs holes was done quite fast , still doubting is I also do the same with the other edges. What would you do?

As we were only with the 2 of us I was also able to make new ones..  we talked and laughed a lot and in the end we had this a result..

 The blue-purple-greenish candle light  are hardly seen on the “in the darkness “picture but I might make some adjustments to them…
