About me
Hello,
I am Kim Nijsten, born 1975, women, wife, mother of 2 lovely daughters (born 2001 and 2003). I have a parttime job as a floristy teacher and in my other time I am a teacher in felting and feltartist.
I really LOVE to make felt myself. I think it is still magic to me as to how it comes into exsistence: the soft , loose fibers become a sturdy piece of felt after adding water and soap. Ofcourse that’s not all to get felt, it needs to be massaged, rubbed and yes, even thrown with. Beside felting I work as said as a floristy teacher to children aged 12-20 years old. Every class is different and it is nice to see these children feeling very proud about what they made with fresh flowers and natural materials.
Gardening is also something I love to do. Nature is a wonderful thing and I try to be as careful as possible with it, no spoilings if it is not nescessarry. I work with ECO friendly dyed wool, wool itself is composable and has many good properties. The shipping packagings are as much as possible recycled.
Time line:
July 2005: first experiences in feltmaking myself (Sweden). When we came back from that vacation I started experimenting, trail and error, selfteaching at home. I was lucky to have a new colleque whom was a felter for a longer time, and she teached me many things. Thank you Angelika!!
